State & Local Energy Issues:NEW LINK 08/17/2004 "Energy company indicted from California energy crisis. Documents allege market manipulation in 2000. A Reliant Resources Inc. subsidiary and four of its officers were indicted on charges of manipulating California energy markets, the Justice Department announced Thursday." Apr 8,2004 Article at CNN: [Webmaster note: Sorry, they've taken this article off CNN's site - I wonder why??] However, the company's 2003 financial report filed 11/12/2003 is available online, and the various lawsuits and their statuses (at that time) are shown starting on their page 21. Note that California is not the only state filing lawsuits. Also note that the suits are forced into federal court and it has been ruled that we cannot sue in our state court. (IMPORTANT: If their site tells you that you are not authorized to view this page, just close the window and retry a couple of times. If that fails, go to Yahoo and do an "advanced search" using the phrase: Reliant Resources Inc. - along with the words: California energy lawsuit - and one of the 2 links Yahoo gives you should work! - If not, I made a copy!
